At The Freyja Project, we offer classes for practitioners at all levels, from beginners to advanced, and cater to all body types, whether that is an athlete or weekend warrior, pre- or post-natal, or those working with injuries.
An inspired and vigorous vinyasa flow practice that dynamically links breath with movement in a balanced sequence of sun salutations, standing postures and seated postures. Sequences will vary according to each teacher's philosophy and inspiration and every class will challenge students to tap into inner strength, find clearness in the mind and experience balance in the body. This class will offer opportunities to increase flexibility, strength and awareness of body, mind and spirit. This is an invigorating all levels practice.
A deep and powerful slow flow practice focused on thoughtful alignment and creative sequencing. Expect the same sun salutations, standing postures and seated postures you know from our Vinyasa Flow classes, but approached with intentional focus on alignment, refinement and breath awareness. This class will offer detailed physical and subtle alignment cues as well as spend ample time helping to break down and better understand yoga postures. This class will offer opportunities to increase flexibility, strength, and awareness of body, mind and spirit. This is a stealthily challenging all levels practice.
Similar to Vinyasa Flow in that this class is an inspired vinyasa flow class that links breath with movement in a sequence of sun salutations, standing postures and seated postures. Different from Vinyasa Flow in that it adds further elements of difficulty, intensity, and often arm balancing. This class is intended to offer you innovations in sequencing and rigor focused around more advanced technique in asana (posture) and pranayama (breathwork). Experience highly recommended.
A class that introduces the fundamentals of yoga with an explanation of the postures (asanas) complemented by instruction on correct breathing techniques. This class is conducted at a very relaxed, alignment-focused pace where students are encouraged to ask questions. All levels.
Yin yoga works on the connective tissue and joints of the body. Unlike other styles of yoga, yin is about surrendering to the pose, not using our muscles to push deeper. By holding poses for several minutes, we allow the muscles to relax so that the connective tissue can be stretched and strengthened. As our tissues are stressed, our bodies respond by strengthening that area. Through selected poses, we can increase the mobility and the stability of our joints. We won't do any standing, balancing or deeply inverted poses, we will do a lot of deep stretches and hold them for several minutes until we get to that delicious, yummy, gooey center. This class is very meditative and open to all levels. Yin yoga is especially good for runners, skiers, athletes and anyone with a sedentary lifestyle. All levels.
Invigorating vinyasa flow meets restorative yin surrender in this class that blends the best of both modalities. Expect an upbeat flow sequencing in the first half followed by downtempo release and restorative love in the second half. All levels.
Yin to Meditation
Center yourself and de-stress with a centuries-old practice that calms the mind and soothes the soul. Freyja's sweet approach is a 30-minute group meditation that starts with guided pranayama (breath work), visualization and relaxation and ends with a silent seated meditation. A wonderful way to be in the present moment for students of all levels.
Restorative yoga is a practice that is all about slowing down and opening your body through passive stretching. During Restore you may hardly move at all, doing just a few postures over the course of an hour. Restore allows your muscles to relax deeply as props are used to support your body. This class is very mellow and a great complement to other active practices. Restore classes seek to achieve physical, mental, and emotional relaxation.
This deeply relaxing class begins with gentle movement, props and intentional breath work and transitions to a deeply meditative sustained Savasana. Yoga Nidra translates to “yogic sleep”. While the body enters deep relaxation, the mind leaves the waking state, travels through the dreaming state and dives into the deep subconscious while traveling through the layers of the self (koshas). Nidra allows the practitioner the ability to expand self-awareness, release stress and anxiety, heal many health disorders and restructure self-defeating beliefs into those of positive self-actualization (motivation to realize one's full potential). All levels.
Freyja BUFF is a results-driven fitness class that incorporates the benefits of yoga, weight training and cardio. This fast-paced class blends yoga stretching and mobility work with hand weights and plyometrics with a goal of burning fat and building muscle over time. All levels.
